Good Morning Beautiful
There’s a song that my romantic single heart loves by Steve Holy called “Good Morning Beautiful.” To be really honest, I fantasize of a time when I wake up in the morning next to a man whom I love and who loves me, and he says:
Good morning, beautiful. How was your night? Mine was wonderful with you by my side. When I open my eyes and see your sweet face, it’s a good morning beautiful day! I know I’m a hopeless romantic, but today I read a Scripture that resonated deeply with my heart. It is a Holy Scripture that perhaps even outdid Steve Holy!
Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. (Psalm 143:8)
How could I have missed this? I have a God whose love is unchanging. It will never run out! It will always pursue! It is sacrificial! He loves me, rejoices over me, protects me and leads me. Every morning He waits for my eyes to open and search for Him so He can say, “Good morning, beautiful. How was your night?”
Oswald Chambers had it right when he wrote, “No love of the natural heart is safe unless the human heart has been satisfied by God first.”
We are wrong to think we can make anyone love us the way we want to be loved. Our deepest need is not going to be satisfied by anyone else but God and He is never overwhelmed by our longing. He will never run from our neediness. Instead He will immerse us in His love. Our cup will overflow.
So, Lord, fill me to overflowing and help me not to hold out my cup waiting for others to fill it. There is nothing more beautiful than a woman who walks in confidence knowing her cup is full of the unfailing, unchanging agape love of God.
